Pomodoro Technique
I've just discovered a simple time management technique created by Francesco Cirillo. He calls it the Pomodoro Technique because the centerpiece of the approach is a kitchen timer that looks like a tomato. Visit the website to download Cirillo's free PDF paper that explains his technique in detail. Also available on the website are cool software applications (also free and downloadable) that enable users to time and record their pomodori digitally. Here's the link:

The Pomodoro Technique

I used four pomodori to read the paper; so far, it seems to work for me. Cirillo says that the technique is easy to learn (takes about a minute to get the general idea), but he suggests 15-20 days of consistent application of the technique in order to fully experience the restructuring of perception of time that results from using it. I'm going to try it out to wrap up my end-of-semester administrative tasks, and I'll probably suggest it to my writing students this summer at the U.
